Hunting Monsters final frontIt’s New Years Eve, gang, and here at Rancho Whalen we’ve got a lot of things to celebrate in addition to the arrival of a New Year. The new Mordecai Slate book, “Hunting Monsters Is My Business” was launched a few weeks ago and is not only getting good reviews but it’s selling well too.

As an example of the kind of reviews it’s getting I refer you to The Pulp Chronicler blog. Pulp fiction critic/editor/writer Craig T. McNeely has written an overwhelmingly positive review not only of the new book but the first Mordecai Slate book, “Vampire Siege at Rio Muerto” as well. Here’s what he had to say about Mordecai Slate: “Imagine Clint Eastwood meets Parker meets the John Carpenter film Vampires. Very highly recommended. Basically, you need to pick these books up.”

He said some other things that totally blew me away, but I’ll let you read it for yourself.

Now today, to make things even more exciting, Amazing Stories Magazine is featuring an excerpt from the book. Click on the link and check it out. I’m hoping once you get a taste of one of Slate’s adventures you’ll want to read more.

In the meantime, here’s wishing one and all a happy and successful 2015.
