Just fnished “Shamanskin,” a novel by C.W. Russette. It’s a fast-paced story of the supernatural in which two factions are battling over the destiny of mankind– the vampiric House of Brittingham vs. the Penumbra Brotherhood. The local citizens of Hartshorn, a suburb of Philadelphia– mostly a rag tag pack of young people — are caught in the middle and do their best to save themselves if not humanity.
The McGuffin in this tale is the titular skin of a dead Shaman that supposedly has the power to control an army of the dead. It’s an interesting take on the vampire legend with an action-packed plot that keeps the story moving. Check it out.
